Ker Breizh Construction is a masonry and structural-work company rooted in Brittany, specialising in island building and heritage restoration in Belle-Île, Groix, Houat, Hœdic and on the Morbihan mainland.
Working on an island demands rigorous logistics and organisation: material supply, lifting equipment, meeting deadlines despite the crossing. We have made it our speciality. Our knowledge of local building — stone, lime, maritime constraints — lets us work on new construction as well as the restoration of old structures.
With over twenty years of experience, the team is made up of two to three masons on site, supported by one person dedicated to administration. Our workers come from the mainland and are housed on Belle-Île during the works. This choice ensures a workforce present on site all week, available and consistent, without depending on the vagaries of seasonal recruitment. It is the concrete expression of our commitment: motivated teams, mobilised for the long term in the service of quality workmanship.
Tradition and modernity: to the lime and dry stone of heritage we add the low-carbon materials of today's construction, in line with current environmental requirements.
On our masonry works we use, depending on the project, low-carbon masonry cements. The clinker-free Hoffmann Green cement is one example: cold-manufactured from industrial by-products, it markedly reduces the carbon footprint compared with a traditional Portland cement.
Load-bearing wall and insulation in a single material: the Monomur-type terracotta brick reaches a thermal resistance of R = 3.25 m²·K/W at 37 cm. Non-combustible (class A1), VOC-free, it is healthy, durable and compliant with current thermal regulations.
